Cumming

Cumming is a city Georgia 15 miles from Alpharetta Georgia and 39 miles Northeast of Downtown Atlanta. It is a small city in Forsyth County and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The zip codes in Cumming are 30040, 30041 and 30028.

The area was first Inhabited by Cherokee tribes in mid 1700s. In 1831 Cherokee County was formed. However, by 1832 Cherokee county had split into several counties including Forsyth county. Cumming is now located in Forsyth county. The town of Cumming was formed in 1833 and in 1834 the town had established it first post office. Cumming was officially incorporated on December 22, 1834. The completion of GA 400 highway has assisted in the growth of the city making it a commuter city.

Popular attraction in Cumming is the Sawnee Mountain Preserve which is a 963-acre preserve known for Indian seats rock formation and features playground, picnic pavilions, hiking trails, climbing area, amphitheater and visitor center.

The city is served by Forsyth county Schools.
