Chamblee in the Past: The History Behind the Neighborhood

Chamblee, considered a small city in the greater Atlanta metropolitan area, was incorporated in 2908 on August 27th and is one of the ten cities that currently comprises DeKalb County.

What began as a small city that was just a southern rail town dotted with dairy farms has seen massive growth over the decades. Now, Chamblee features an expanding downtown district, an esteemed antique row district, an international village, and plenty of potential growth in the future.

How to Get Around: Chamblee Transportation Options

Because Chamblee is not considered to be a remarkably walkable community, most residents and visitors choose to use vehicles to get around. That being said this doesn’t always mean taking their own cars. A substantial portion of the Chamblee population relies on public transit to get from Point A to Point B.

Most often, this means using the bus routes, and the Chamblee MARTA Rail Station.

Chamblee is located about 20 minutes away from Buckhead and Midtown Atlanta and only about 6 minutes from Brookhaven.
