Up until July 1858 Alpharetta was known as the city Milton. It later became the city of Alpharetta when incorporated on December 11, 1858.

MARTA rail service does not connect to Alpharetta although there are talks to bring heavy rail to Alpharetta. Don’t drive? MARTAhas bus routes in Alpharetta and residents travelling to Atlanta and Airport may connect to MARTA rail North Springs Station. Or you may opt for Rideshare or limousine service. Most residents rely on their own transportation or Rideshare to get around this suburban city.
Alpharetta is approximately 26 miles from Downtown Atlanta and approximately 36 miles to Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Travelling from Downtown Atlanta you would take 85 North to 400 North.
